So, I have written about Australia (I like to call it "Down Under") in the past. There have been many stories I have read, and I wanted to share them with you.


First, not only do they hate children Down Under, they also hate birds: http://bit.ly/b1GQA7. Apparently, the stupid humans Down Under fed the bird lots of sausage, and the bird got too fat to fly. Clearly, this is a plot by the humans Down Under to kill birds. Now, I don't think this is a bad idea, because I'm a cat.


Next, there is a Japanese restaurant Down Under that makes everyone eat everything on their plates:: http://bit.ly/9jgT7O. This is a good idea. I guess that the humans Down Under don't like to finish their food, only their beer. So this Japanese chef decided that the humans have to finish their food, or pay a fine and never come back. My mommy does this to me all the time. If I don't like my food, she makes me eat it anyway, no matter how much I cry.

But the big story is that they have a new prime minister Down Under, and she is the first female prime minister: http://bit.ly/9X5nG7. The old prime minister, Kevin Rudd, had to resign because he hates children and kittens. I think they picked a woman because they thought she'd be nicer to kids. But the funny thing is, she doesn't want to have kids. I wonder if she likes kitties? But she doesn't want to tax children as much as her predecessor: http://bit.ly/b2t19E and http://bit.ly/bA48Pt. But she didn't say anything about not making them work in the mines.

While she doesn't have children and isn't married, she has a Life Partner. His name is Tim Mathieson: http://bit.ly/axsrU2. If you don't recognize the name, he is a famous actor. As a child, he was in Leave It To Beaver and was the voice of Jonny Quest. But he is probably most famous for being in Animal House (Which doesn't have any animals in it).

Putting Goldman Sachs In A Corner

Hi,

My world domination heros, Goldman Sachs, is being picked on by everyone. I think the problem is that they are behaving like cats, but they are human beings.


Who is cuter?

Now, you might put up with bad behavior from the kitty, but not the ugly, angry man.

First, the Chinese are mad at Goldman Sachs. Basically, some Chinese companies bought some oil futures contracts when oil prices were going crazy. This is normal. Many businesses, like airlines, buy these to try to control their expenses. In the USA, many business have to use hedging or they might get sued. Now, in this case, if the price of oil goes down, then the companies will lose money. This is normal too. But the Chinese are mad at Goldman Sachs, because they lost money, because the price of oil went down. The Chinese are mad because Goldman Sachs made money off of them.

Then, Goldman Sachs has a bed bug problem. I think that they are responsible for all the bed bugs in the city right now. I don't know why they would do this, but they must have a plan. Maybe they own all the exterminators in the city. They have to use a doggie. I guess that's one thing doggies are good for.

But at least their customers are staying with them. I think this is funny, because they already told their customers they don't like them. Their customers must be masochists.

Yesterday, President Obama gave a speech in Pittsburgh. There's lots of stories about this on the Internet. Basically, the President was talking about how bad the economy is. He said we need to do a few things:

• Financial Reform
• Health Care Reform
• Fiscal Austerity.

Now, he also talked about being energy independent, reducing our need for oil. This is all well and good. I'm sure he's working very hard to solve the problem. Maybe he's right, maybe he's wrong. I don't know. I'm just a cat.



But, there was something he said in the speech that makes me wonder. Let me quote it here:

After losing an average of 750,000 jobs a month during the winter of last year, we’ve now added jobs for five of the last six months, and we expect to see strong job growth in Friday’s report..

I think the President just leaked the jobs report. Isn't that kind of illegal? I think it was President Nixon who said, "If the President does it, then it isn't illegal."

Last week, I read this story of how the Chinese is making insurance companies buy more stocks: http://bit.ly/9aCjjq. The title says "The Chinese Plunge Protection Team".

It made me wonder, what is the "Plunge Protection Team" (PPT)?

Well, the Plunge Protection Team was created by President Reagan in 1988. It is made up of all the finance bigwigs: Federal Reserve Chairman, Treasury Secretary, Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, and the Chairman of the Commodities and Futures Commission. The name comes from a Washington Post article.

Originally, it was suppose to figure out what went wrong with the markets on October 19, 1987 (They call this day "Black Monday" now). But now, the PPT uses the government's power to keep the markets from crashing too much. They do this by using government money to by stocks and index futures when the market is doing badly.



Now, some people think that the PPT is a myth, like Ceiling Cat and Basement Cat. Other people think that the PPT is behind all the mysterious moves in the market.

People who don't believe in the PPT are always saying how people who do believe in the PPT are crackpots.


The thing is, some days, there is clearly some sort of market manipulation going on. If it's not the PPT, who could it be? I think it's a plan to keep the masses down. The only way to get out is to become part of the ruling class. I know they all have thumbs, so that's where I'm starting.

My fans have been asking me, "Manny, what's this PIGS they always talking about in the news?"

Well readers, PIGS is what we call an acronym. Each letter in the word represents a different European country

• Portugual
• Italy
• Greece
• Spain.

Nowadays, they add Ireland (FOR PIIGS); and sometimes Great Britain (FOR PIIGGS).

I think this acronym was started around 1997 (long, long before I was born) by British bankers (and I think it was Goldman Sachs, my world domination heroes). It was suppose to refer to countries whose debt was 100% of GDP (Gross Domestic Product) or going to be.

Now, I wrote about Greece before (see here, here, and here). By the way, I translated the first post for you, since I wrote it before I learned English.

Last week, many bad things happened for Spain (the S in PIGS). This company named Fitch lowered their rating of Spain from AAA to AA+. This is not a big deal, but still means there is very, very small chance Spain will default on their payments. It's not good.

Spain is a bigger problem than Greece, just because Spain is a bigger country than Greece. Too big to fail, but also to big to bail out. The Spanish government tried to pass austerity measures to cut spending by EUR15.0M (USD$18.0M) and it barely passed. The vote was 169-168-13. This is also not good.

To make things worse, it looks like the Spanish public doesn't want their government to cut spending. If they had an election right now, the opposition party would win most of the votes. I think that the Spanish Prime Minister has to call an election soon, since the vote was so close. It's too bad he doesn't have a smoking hot wife. to help him get votes. Instead, his daughters are kind of scary.
